GIS Data Sources

Below you’ll find some sources of GIS data for use in regional projects.

PASDA - Pennsylvania Spatial Data Access (PASDA) is the official public access geospatial information clearinghouse for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and has served for fifteen years as Pennsylvania's node on the National Spatial Data Infrastructure, Geospatial One-Stop, and the National Biological Information Infrastructure.

Natural Resource Conservation District Geospatial Data Gateway  - The Geospatial Data Gateway (GDG) is the One Stop Source for environmental and natural resources data, at anytime, from anywhere, to anyone. The Gateway allows you to choose your area of interest, browse and select data from our catalog, customize the format, and have it downloaded or shipped on CD or DVD.

United States Census Bureau Maps and Data - Find geographic data and products such as the TIGER/Line Shapefiles, KMLs, TIGERweb, cartographic boundary files, geographic relationship files, and reference and thematic maps.

SPC Regional Data Center – Through strategic partnerships and GIS Technology, SPC has assembled one of the largest data arsenals in the region to assist with a multitude of planning and economic development activities. Municipalities’ ability to access all the best current data and future projections in a single place—SPC— enables them to make more informed decisions about their future residential and commercial development potential.

State Water Plan Digital Water Atlas - This website allows the user to perform interactive mapping by watershed.  Mapping information covers diverse topics, including: land use, geology, stormwater and flooding information, and more.

eMapPA – This website allows the user to perform interactive mapping.  Mapping information covers diverse topics, including:  cultural and demographic information, geology and geophysical, oil and gas, streams and water resources, and more.

 

  WAVE (Water Attribute Viewer and Extracts) - This website utilizes unique search criteria to allow the user to perform interactive mapping.  Mapping queries can be conducted by searching county, zip code, sub-watershed, and geographic information of interest. 

Allegheny County GIS - This website allows the user to download static maps, perform interactive web mapping, and directs you to Allegheny County data on the PASDA website.

Armstrong County GIS – This website allows the user to perform interactive web mapping and provides information as to how to obtain GIS data sets for the county.

Beaver County GIS - This website allows the user to perform interactive web mapping and provides information as to how to obtain GIS data sets for the county.

Butler County GIS - This website allows the user to perform interactive web mapping.

Greene County GIS - This website provides information about GIS at Greene County.

Westmoreland County GIS Department - This website allows the user to perform interactive web mapping.

City of Pittsburgh GIS – This website allows the user to download data, perform interactive web mapping, and download static maps. A variety of environmental, land management, and infrastructure files are available for download.
