Stormwater Management & Best Management Practices

National & State Stormwater Best Management Practice Information

Best Management Practices (BMPs) are used in stormwater management to prevent and mitigate problems related to stormwater.  There are a variety of BMPs available to control peak runoff rate, improve water quality, and manage runoff volume.  Important considerations when selecting BMPs include but are not limited to: 1) site conditions (e.g. slope), 2) existing and surround land uses, 3) priority stormwater management goals (e.g. water quality regulations) and 4) additional site development or redevelopment goals (e.g. recreational opportunities).
